How does it work?

The Ascott Group, the Vertice Society, and Scott Perry will host three speech contest seasons online in 2022.  Each season will last 10 about 10 weeks long.  Each season is new and last season participants and winners can join the next season.   Each season will include weeks of practice, training and small mini-contest to develop your skills.  You will represent your hometown in the East of West of Japan. Semi-finals and finals will be on youtube and voting will include a group of 5 judges and votes from viewers.

There are 2 levels, advanced and intermediate.  Pronunciation level 1~2 is advanced.  Pronunciation level (2.5 ~ 5) is intermediate.    Your speech will be judged by 4 factors, speech content, your pronunciation, delivery, and overall presentation.

You can get training from anyone.  Scott Sensei and his team will provide some free training, coaching, and advice as well as paid training for anyone that wants it.    Non-Vertice Society members are able to enter into the contest. Native English Speakers will not be eligible.  Scott Sensei will not be a final judgment.

**There is a registration fee and the award money and prizes are based on the level of participation. The more participants, the larger the prize money. Our goal is to reach 1,000,000 yen by the 3rd contest.

** Advanced level preliminary speeches will be about 1.5 minutes. The final speeches will be 2 min to 2.5 minutes long. Participants are responsible for making their own speeches.

** The intermediate level preliminary speech will be 45 seconds to 1 min 15 second seconds long.  The final speeches will be 1 min 15  seconds to 1 min 45 seconds long.   Participants can create their own speeches, or use speeches supplied by the vertice society.
